Action direcTor
mAction director
Action Directing is a specialized technique used in the film industry to form the illusion of action/combat without causing harm to the performers. I have spent more than 25 years in Martial arts, however, being a martial artist does not automatically qualify a person to do action choreography. Being qualified to train is essential, primarily because the overall safety of the actors is paramount!
I personally have had the honour of having had two of the best teachers in the industry and am proud to be able to say that I have learned so much from Philippe Deseck (Aquaman) and Drew Leary(Gotham) They truly are among some of the greatest people I have met along the way.
Whether your production is a short film, an Independent film, or a full length feature, consulting and training can take place with the actors “on set”. Unique and effective action sequences are brought together through the use of shot principles, safety, and exciting production techniques. The whole process could be looked upon as one-big-dance.
Some key points when you work with me:
The first part of understanding my job is the aspect of Action. The development of speed, and accuracy with the techniques is one of the keys to success. It is often the case that we may have to add performance/acting into the story.
There are a lot of other aspects that need to be taken into account.
